Apple Music delivery requirements

What Apple Music needs — and how SMG handles it

Apple Music has specific requirements for audio quality, metadata completeness and artwork specifications. SMG's QC process is built to meet them.

01

High-Resolution Audio

Apple Music supports lossless audio. SMG accepts WAV/AIFF files and reviews audio quality against Apple's technical standards before delivery.

02

Complete Metadata

ISRC codes, UPC, artist credits, genre, language, copyright lines and explicit content flags must all be present and accurate before Apple Music will process a release.

03

Artwork Standards

Artwork must be 3000×3000px minimum, in RGB colour space, in JPEG or PNG format, and free of third-party logos or website URLs. SMG reviews artwork before delivery.

04

DDEX Delivery

SMG packages releases in DDEX-compliant format — the standard Apple Music accepts for distributor deliveries. Non-compliant deliveries are rejected at source.

05

Release Scheduling

Releases can be scheduled for specific dates and times. SMG configures delivery timing based on your release date and Apple's processing lead time requirements.

06

Royalty Reporting

Apple Music streaming revenue appears in your royalty statements, processed through LUNA Accounting alongside earnings from other platforms.
